At a time when there was no set language for this budding art form, the Vasulkas work focused on developing a vocabulary specific to electronic media. They worked closely with engineers and other visual artists to develop tools to produce electronic imagery. Early works were done with analog tools like the Rutt Etra Scan Processor before they developed their own Digital Image Articulator.
